Moving beyond the pose

Have you ever felt like yoga was just another thing to “get right”?
For years, I thought yoga was about perfecting poses—about how deep I could fold, how strong I could balance, or how long I could hold a plank. But over time, I discovered something far more powerful: embodied yoga.

What is Embodied Yoga?
Embodied yoga is about tuning in to how movement feels, not how it looks. It’s an invitation to listen to your body’s wisdom, to move intuitively, and to let go of the pressure to perform. In my classes, I encourage you to notice the subtle sensations, the breath, and the emotions that arise as you move. This practice is about presence, curiosity, and self-compassion.

Why Does It Matter?
When we practice embodied yoga, we create space for self-discovery and healing. We learn to trust our bodies, to respond to their needs, and to move in ways that support our unique selves. It’s not about achieving the “perfect” pose—it’s about finding what feels good and true for you.

How to Start
Next time you step onto your mat:

  1. Try closing your eyes for a few moments.

  2. Notice your breath, the contact of your body with the ground, and any areas of tension or ease.

  3. Let your movement be guided by sensation, not by what you think you “should” do.

  4. Remember: your practice is yours alone.
